Christmas seasonal sets revealed

Details of three of this year's Christmas sets have been revealed at LEGO.com today:

  • We now have better images of the fourth and final seasonal vignette/animal set for the year, 40498 Penguin.
  • 40494 Polar Bear & Gift Pack is another hanging ornament set, the second Christmas-themed one after last year's 854050 Snowman & Reindeer Duo
  • A polybag, 30580 Santa Claus, has been listed at LEGO Customer Services but without an image or inventory, so we'll have to wait and see exactly what it is, but I suspect it'll be a buildable figure similar to others like 30573.

The first two will be available at LEGO.com from 1st October.

USS Cherokee WWII fleet tug MOC

  My newest MOC, the USS Cherokee (AT-66), a World War II Cherokee -class fleet tugboat.  Inspired by an amazing model of the Cherokee by the designer Chuck, I took the details and techniques that I liked from his and put them into my build.  Externally the two are very similar, bar the color scheme, however, the inside of my Cherokee is is much more over-engineered. Built to 1/200 scale with around 850 pieces, this amazing display model measures  32cm long, 7cm wide, and 21cm tall.

Halloween Seasonal Sets Revealed

Two Halloween sets are due to be released on 1st August: 40497 Halloween Owl features the titular bird of prey and a couple of pumpkins on a rounded-corner 12x12 plinth to match 40462 and 40463 that were released earlier in the year. 40493 Spider & Haunted House contains two hanging ornaments, but unlike last year's 854049 Pumpkin & Bat Duo, it's packaged in a regular square box.   The back of the box image of the owl at LEGO.com has revealed a matching set for Christmas, 40498 Penguin:
