June's over already, Julying! Monthly Workshop Report #1, June 2021

June was spent working on MOCs, decommissioning old sets and creations, and sorting parts. I also have been playing around with my camera setup, trying to find the best way to take good pictures. You can view all of this month's progress after the break...

June was busy for me, so I didn't get as mush done as I would have liked to. However, I was able to finish one major MOC, as well as several smaller ones that I didn't take pictures of (oops :) ). Lets dive into my current MOC progress as well as some possible future ideas.

USS Cherokee (AT-66)

Datasheet:
Start date: 6/22/2021
Completion date: 6/25/2021
Hours of work: ~24 hours
Scale: 1/200
Dimensions: length 40 studs / width 7 studs / height 23 studs

I'm toying with the idea of building more 1/200 scale obscure and unique WWII ships, let me know what you think about this idea in the comments.

Honolulu's TheBus

I've been working on this one for over two months now, the longest I've ever spent on a single project.

Datasheet:

Start date: sometime in April 2021
Completion date: N/A
Hours of work: at least 720 hours (30 days)
Scale: 1/20
Dimensions: length 67 studs / width 16 studs / height 18 studs
Power: two LEGO Power Functions L-motors, two M-motor
Control: right now none, but eventually S-Brick
Functions: motorized drive, steering, and kneeling, manually opened doors

Above pictures of the bus's current form, below is what it looked like a month ago. As you can see, I scrapped the windows and have made progress on the side walls and the rear.

At this point I'm just waiting to order parts to finish the roof, doors, and seats, as well as a few power functions items and the all-important S-Brick.

JPSDF Type 16 MCV

A maneuver combat vehicle used by the Japanese People's Self-Defense Force.

Sorting

As mentioned above, I spent a considerable amount of time this month sorting parts that had been lying around for over a month. In addition I also "decommissioned" several old MOCs and sets, like the Phantom II, 501st battle pack, and 2/3 of Trouble on Tatooine (I kept Mando's speeder built). Here's a brief look at my sorting process.

First I take apart the builds and sort by general color.

Then I sort each color into general type, e.g. 1xN plates, 2xN plates, tiles, hinges, etc.

I also sort out similar colors like dark bluish gray and pearl silver.

I hope you enjoyed this monthly update for June 2021 and stay tuned for more exciting content.
